Homo sapiens is the only extant human species. The name is Latin for wise man, and was introduced in 1758 by Carl Linnaeus. Extinct species of the genus Homo include Homo erectus and a number of other species.






What do you know about Sugar?

Grams - a metric unit of mass equal to one thousandth of a kilogram.
Teaspoonfuls - A unit of capacity equal to the amount a teaspoon can hold
which is taken approximately as 5ml.
Cane sugar - sugar obtained from sugar cane.
Honey - a sweet, sticky yellowish-brown fluid made by bees and other insects from
nectar collected from flowers.
Metabolism - the chemical processes that occur within a living organism in order to maintain life.

Energy levels - one of the stable states of constant energy that may be assumed
by a physical system used especially of the quantum states of electrons in atoms
and of nuclei called also energy states.
A sugar hit - A sugar rush is an experience of high energy after eating or drinking
a considerable amount of sugar in a short period of time, often associated with
hyperactive children.
Sugar content - Being aware of the existing and added sugar content in foods and
drinks is vital to overall health.
Lactose - a sugar present in milk. It is a disaccharide containing glucose and galactose units.
Diabetes - a disease in which the body’s ability to produce or respond to the hormone
insulin is impaired, resulting in abnormal metabolism of carbohydrates and elevated
levels of glucose in the blood.
Sweeteners- a substance used to sweeten food or drink, especially one other than sugar.
Sugarless - sugarless. adjective. Sweetened with a substance that is not a kind of
sugar: sugarless gum sweetened with aspartame. Not sweet: a bitter, sugarless
substance.
Toffy - a kind of firm or hard sweet which softens when sucked or chewed, made by boiling
together sugar and butter, often with other ingredients or flavourings added.
Empty calories - calories derived from food containing no nutrients.
Slow release - In slow-release forms, the slow rate of release into the blood means
there are fewer peaks in concentration

Molecules - a group of atoms bonded together, representing the smallest fundamental
unit of a chemical compound that can take part in a chemical reaction.
